Every town, city and rural village has stunning architectural buildings. Our community churches, homes, city halls, banks, farms, and places of business sparkle from the fine details of stone masons, bricklayers and carpenters from days gone by. You too can capture the beauty of architectural buildings in this two-day workshop. Explore historic buildings and landmarks of Southampton and Paisley, while being provided with on-the-spot instructions on how to best capture these buildings. Workshop is open to all level of photographers and all types of cameras.

​What to bring:  camera, manual, tripod, spare batteries, memory cards and your curiosity and enthusiasm!

“Waterfall Photography”

Sunday, June 2 afternoon all day (limit 15)


Learn and discover the techniques of capturing waterfalls with your camera. (open to all photographers of all levels and all types of cameras: from smart phones, tablets, compact to DSLR) 

Level: Medium. Casual hiking on a variety of paths to get to waterfalls.

Gear: Be prepared for potential windy encounters. Dress in layers according to weather conditions.

In this unique workshop, Kerry will unravel the
complexities of night time photography. Photographing at night opens up a whole new area for photographers to enhance their creative and technical skills. In this hands-on workshop you will experience the photographic techniques of night time photography including; camera settings, equipment selection and painting with light. This workshop includes classroom learning, followed by in the field photographing.

Lightroom is the leading editing software for photographers. In this workshop Kerry will demonstrate his post-processing workflow of editing images using Lightroom. Images taken from the camera will be uploaded to Lightroom. From here Kerry will showcase his step-by-step editing process. You will learn tips, techniques, shortcuts and secrets of Lightroom throughout this class.

Hone your photography skills in this photo station workshop. Participants will be provided with 10 - 15 photo stations to take images. Each station includes a natural item (i.e., animal skull, plant, tree, etc.) where participants will practise their photo techniques for a set period of time, then they move on to the next photo station. (open to all photographers of all levels and all types of cameras: from smart phones, tablets, compact to DSLR)

For most people that will be your “Smart Phone.” In this workshop Kerry will share with you how to take better quality images with your smart phone and/or tablet. Techniques on how to use the in-camera controls, composition and editing will be explored. Hands on photo opportunities and editing your images will take place throughout the workshop. Want to make your smart phone and tablet images have that “wow” factor? Then this is the workshop for you.

“Fun, Frog Frolic: Listening, Finding and Observing Frogs at MacGregor Park”
Huron Fringe Birding Festival
Saturday May 26, afternoon 1:30 pm (limit 20) (family friendly)

Join Kerry on this fun, frog frolic to listen, enjoy and locate the Northern Leopard Frog, Wood Frog, Eastern Gray Treefrog, Green Frog, Spring Peeper and the American Toad who call MacGregor Park home. Our frolic will take us to several ponds to revel in the sights and sounds of these amazing creatures.

Level: Easy.  Casual hiking involved.
Gear: Be prepared for potential wet encounters. Wet weather gear and waterproof boots are recommended. Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras, and close-up binoculars.

Photography Workshops are held at the Southampton Art Centre (201 High St, Southampton (519) 797-5068), the Huron Fringe Birding Festival in Port Elgin at MacGregor Point Provincial Park, and the Celtic Roots College in Goderich.  Please note that registration for all workshops is handled by these three organizations and pre-registration is required. All workshops are limited in class size so there is a very good student to instructor ratio.
